Broadmeadow Sports Centre

Carnival week kicks off with the popular five-a-side football tournament organised by Dom Garros from Broadmeadow Sports Centre. Teams from the local community and holidaymakers, some returning especially for Carnival Week, will compete against one another for fun……and a cash prize!
However, if taking part in a game of footy or any type of exercise makes you think about your fitness levels, the staff from Broadmeadow Sports Centre will be on hand several times throughout Carnival Week to motivate and advise you. Why not have a basic health check or try out some of the Physique Health Suite Equipment, or even experience a revolutionary indoor cycling Trixter X Bike. If that’s not enough and you fancy even more variety in your training, some of the Exercise Studio instructors will be taking their classes on the Den. These will range from Exercise Referral and Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise, to traditional ‘Step’, Aerobics, and ‘Thigh Bums & Tums’, to the infamous & intense Circuit Training with Phill and Jon! If your taste is to focus on fine tuning your coaching skills our sports specific coaches are ready to talk tactics!

It can be simple and straightforward or creative and complex. Whatever your needs there’s something to try out and talk about with Broadmeadow Sports Centre.

Shaldon Wildlife Trust

The Trust is a unique organisation which cares for some of the world's most endangered species. Our centre, set in about one acre of lush semitropical garden, nestles into the hillside above the attractive coastal village of Shaldon in South Devon.
As the smallest member of the British and European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA and EAZA) we have concentrated our energy and expertise on smaller animals, which are just as interesting, if not more so, than their larger relatives. The Trust has a unique and special atmosphere; a place where people can relax and enjoy learning about animals.
We are very much part of the local community, as with only 2 paid staff, we rely on the skills and talents of a team of over 40 volunteers and students for all aspects of our work.

Paignton Zoo

Paignton Zoo is home to thousands of amazing animals and plants. Visit the desert, cross the savannah, explore the forest and trek through the tropics. Use your senses to discover the wild world: look around, listen out - you’ll even need your sense of smell! It’s a great day out for everyone.

Why not visit Living Coasts, our sister attraction in Torquay, to learn more about animals from the coastlines of the world? Or visit Newquay Zoo, Cornwall's award winning zoo.
Ivybridge Donkeys
(On this occasion for petting only)

The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) is a UK based charity dedicated to providing riding therapy with donkeys to children with special needs and disabilities.

The aims of the EST are to bring enjoyment and pleasure into their lives and to give them the satisfaction that comes with the achievement of learning riding skills.

Riding skills are taught by qualified riding instructors using the donkey because of its placid nature. In addition, children are encouraged to groom and care for the donkeys.

Paul Drury's Black Belt Academy
Martials arts display

"The study of the martial arts began thousands of years ago. And flourished in places like, China, Korea and Japan. They first came to the U.K. in the early 40’s, mainly in the form of Judo or Karate, but as time passed, other martial arts began to emerge, such as Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu, which became very popular in the early 70’s, during the so called “kung fu craze”. The styles practiced here at Paul Drury’s Black Belt Academy are Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing. The systems we teach are designed as a means of self-defence, personal development, and self improvement."

"The principles that we teach are based on respect of self and others, personal growth and self-improvement, along with the development of each students overall confidence and self-discipline."
