The Quails

The Quails are the perfect package. The quirky five piece from Teignmouth, Devon storm the stage with their classic - rock-edged indie/pop tunes and cool shoes. Visually well-styled they are a record company's dream and could easily be cut out and pasted on to a major festival stage. With a number of prestigious gigs and an album under their belt, it is unbelievable that The Quails remain unsigned.

"... Another huge talent is Sophie Mendoza - The song 'Over you' has to take her far."

By Jean Tilley - Somerset County Gazette.

"In my view, who had Star quality was Sophie Mendoza who had a great stage presence and knew how to work the audience. She delivered her songs with passion and style which was really loved by the crowd. They really showed their appreciation at the end. I really enjoyed this showcase."

Gazette music columnist Doug Parish.

Sophie Mendoza

Nineteen year old, Sophie Mendoza. Born and bred in Exeter, and lives in Exminster is hoping to become the next big thing. With the help from Wendy and Jonathan Joseph (Joss Stone's mother and past music director) this dream could become a reality. From a small age Sophie has loved nothing else but to sing, however the voice you hear now, if you can believe it, she didn't know she had it in her, however at the age of seventeen Wendy and Jonathan Joseph took her under their wing and have been showing her the ropes for the last year and a half. Now understanding the ways, she's putting together an album. Now having her funky, soul tunes under her belt she is now performing, trying to put herself out there. Also throwing in some covers of the greats. Motown is a great love of Sophie's and has been brought up with listening to the likes of Otis Reading, Lional Richie, Mary Well and The Marvelettes, Four tops, Aretha Franklin the list goes on. Sophie's rich warm tones mixed with the edge of powerhouse and her energy on stage is an electrifying performance, not to be missed. Especially with the band that is backing her at the moment; The resolution. These versatile Teignmouth lads have been a session band for Sophie for the last few months.

With an emotive combination of effortless song writing and an elegiac voice that drifts between breathy falsetto and soaring builds, there are elements reminiscent of an early Chris Martin, had he too been inspired by the windy pebbled shoreline of the southwest.

Dave Can't Dance

"Somewhere in the 1970's six musicians were entered into the governments cryogenic frozen suspension programme, these musicians were deemed to good for their own era! Recently said musicians were awoken and equipped with state of the art equipment ready to unleash their unique brand of disco funk on a new generation!! now if you can find them and you can afford it maybe YOU can hire DAVE CANT DANCE!!"
Nothing you've ever heard before.Have you ever wondered how the like's of Chic, Sister Sledge or the Bee Gees would sound if they were in the charts today??? We dont pretend to sound as polished and as pretty as the original disco era, but what we have strived towards is happy, funky good vibes music with a contemporary twist. To fully appreciate the vibe of Dave Cant Dance, you have to see us live. We guarantee you have not heard classic disco funk played like this before! Our sound is always evolving and set list ever changing. We love what we do and appreciate feedback. We try not to take ourselves too seriously (this is hard sometimes!) we dress up in full 70's attire and always put on an amazing show. So, if you wanna get on down with the boogie and the beat and feel the rhythm move ya feet, drop us a line and maybe catch us at a venue near you soon. Spread the word....Believe!

ATRIO

"ATRIO suprised me alot at the Hole in the Wall;
not the best place for music but a nice venue with a good sound and a sturdy crowd, they rocketed through a 5-minute long set of soundscapes with high pitched guitar roars and a few wailing vocals, they remind me a bit of muse. They had a very full sound but sometimes it was hard to tell different bits apart; their songs sound very big and could easily fill a larger venue though ..... 4/5"

As the smallest member of the British and European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA and EAZA) we have concentrated our energy and expertise on smaller animals, which are just as interesting, if not more so, than their larger relatives. The Trust has a unique and special atmosphere; a place where people can relax and enjoy learning about animals.
We are very much part of the local community, as with only 2 paid staff, we rely on the skills and talents of a team of over 40 volunteers and students for all aspects of our work.

The styles practiced here at Paul Drury’s Black Belt Academy are Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing.
