Currently making waves on the National Music Scene, The Quails are the latest big musical export from the South West. The four-piece released their first album in 2009 and last summer they opened for Muse on the first night of their Resistance Tour, played at The Bulldog Bash and supported The Kooks at the Eden Project among others. The Quails also featured in a BBC documentary about the Muse gig and they are confirmed to perform at the Relentless Boardmasters Festival in Newquay in August on the Vans stage.
“The first time I saw this Indie rocking four-piece live, they blew all the other bands clean off the stage; tight, professional and oozing with energy, The Quails are the real deal” - The Fly Magazine

Last year the band also played at festivals in Turkey and Jersey and headlined a number of smaller music festivals; they played on the Britbus in Bristol and for the Jack Wills sponsored varsity polo party in Windsor. A TV production company followed them to Turkey where they made a documentary about their invitation to play at an EU funded festival just 50 miles from the Iran/Iraq border. The documentary is currently being entered for national film festivals.
In March ‘10 The Quails ventured to the Alps to support Newton Faulkner at The Altitude Festival and will be playing at numerous festivals over the Summer including Reading, Beach Break Live, South Devon Festival supporting Will Young, Chagstock supporting The Hoosiers, Dartmouth after Ruby Turner, Ivy Live and Volksfest supporting The Undertones and an Academy tour is planned for the Autumn.

Singer/guitarist George Harris and bassist Matt Featherstone met while studying music practice at South Devon College and formed the band. They never took to the scruffy indie look, preferring instead to take pride in their appearance wearing sharp suits and carefully coiffured hair. In their music too they take pride in their musicianship with carefully crafted songs that are enjoyable to dance and sing-along to. They quickly became the most popular band in college, playing the graduation ball and numerous 18th birthday bashes. Once they started playing the local pubs and clubs they quickly became the most popular band in Torbay too with over 2,500 registered fans to date.

Their style is a familiar one in UK pop history. Plain english lyrics that speak for a generation through ultra-catchy tunes that will have you humming for weeks. Think Madness, The Housemartins, Blur, McFly, but playing to a generation born in the 1990's.

"The Iconyx brought a light hearted and upbeat vibe to Applebys on Friday 16th April which was received with open arms by those present.
This band is absolutely fantastic, strumming out songs that would not be out of place in the charts today. They have a sound reminiscent of The Kooks, with maybe slightly more of a pop twist. They played some brilliant originals including ‘Groupie Lucy’ which is a prime example of the easy-on-the-ears kind of music they produce. This is a great one to dance and sing along to, as are the majority of their songs, and this coupled with their fun, simplistic lyrics makes them very accessible as a band.
The Iconyx, as a package. are superbly presented, George Harris (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) and Matt Featherstone (bass/backing vocals) were both sporting very smart suit jackets with pencil ties, whilst Steve Little (drums/backing vocals) had an equally smart waistcoat on coupled with the tie. As three good looking, clean cut lads, they cover this angle for the already growing number of female fans, and to satisfy the other there is Josh Izard (lead guitar). He successfully ticks the ’bad boy’ box of the group, with no jacket, his top button undone, tie hanging loose, and an unshaven stubble shading his face as he very calmly knocks out an understated solo to add a little bit more to each song.
I was absolutely blown away by how well rounded and professional The Iconyx looked and sounded on Friday. If they keep doing what they are doing I think they have a great chance of making big things happen."
- Jon Atkins, Talktorbay.com (18/5/2010)
‘Absolutely brilliant!’ - Wendy ‘MAMA Stone’ Joseph (Manager of Joss Stone and owner of Mama Stones)

"These guys will be stars" - Guitarist Magazine

‘F**king GREAT!' - Hugh Manson (Them Crooked Vultures - Bass Tech, Builder of Matthew Bellamy’s guitars of Muse)

‘They're simply Brilliant! / Very, very, very, very good live!’ - Vic Morgan - BBC Radio Devon

Rude Tiger blend popular modern rock with soaring guitar melodies, catchy lyrics and melodic vocals with a solid tearing rhythm section. Sounding like The Police fused with Steve Vai thrown into a modern pot of Muse, Kings Of Leon and then stirred thoroughly!
The band comprises of Newton Abbot brothers Jas Morris (24) on Vocals and Guitar and Dan Morris (26) on Bass and Keyboards with Torquay lad D Collings (22) on Drums and Samples.
Since hitting the South West scene a few years ago, the group has continuously expanded its horizons, gigging throughout the UK and gaining a bass of faithful fans. They’ve played London, Manchester, Mansfield, Monmouth, Cambridge, Plymouth, Exeter, Torbay and numerous other locales in an attempt to spread the Rude Tiger everywhere!

ATRIO, are a three piece alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon. Originally a four piece in 2006, they built up a name around the southwest. But soon after went their separate ways due to musical differences. But in early 2009 three of the four got back together and have been working hard to get a new sound. Inspired by a huge range of music and styles they’ve managed to fuse them together to create a huge sound which is currently being recorded and put onto their self titled demo and soon to be released EP. Creating a huge aura ATRIO are a band not to be missed live! 2010 looks to be action packed year of gigs writing and recording!
The Dolcet Tones fully formed in Torbay late 2008, after taking a couple of years to locate each other. They are; Dal-Vocals, Adam-Bass, Jay and Tone-Guitars / Keys, and Kyle– Drums.

They take mostly acoustically written songs that pay attention to melody and atmosphere, and stretch them loud and live as a full Line-up. The band has played a string of great gigs around the local area and their first EP was released at the turn of the year, with another one on the way. The guys have got a lot planned, so keep your ears out for them this summer!

Our influences range from classics like Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones to modern bands such as The Kings of Leon, Bloc Party and the Gossip. Back To Coda (formally known as dirty blue) is a rock band from Torbay. A few line up changes over the past two years has bought you the band you hear today. With some of the best musicians Torbay has to offer, they are an energetic and fantastic band to watch.
With an extensive set list comprising mostly originals, with a few old and new covers in the mix to spice things up, you will not be disappointed.
All four members have previously been in successful bands, but a shared desire to be more focused in their approach to music brought them together. At first just a hobby, things gradually became more serious as the band realized that they had a loyal fan base that was growing rapidly at every gig.
Playing pubs and clubs across Torbay allowed the band to really sync as a unit, and now Back to Coda are venturing further afield, playing all over England from clubs to festivals. Plans are in motion for their European tour, and the world premiere of Back to Coda live on the moon...
Bad Mojo was formed in the summer 2007, a group of friends with an idea that a band shouldn't have one style of music. With a wide range of musical influences the band set out to create diverse set lists of cover songs.

Putting there own spin on the songs Mojo gained a good reputation around the area and it wasn't long before gigs were booked and they were hired for events and private parties.
Whatever your taste in music Bad Mojo will have songs that will make you stamp your feet.
