5th Sept - Muse opening gig in Teignmouth
'A Seaside Rendezvous'
Teignmouth had waited a long time for Muse to come home and last night they did – and rocked it to bits!
After more than 14 years the trio returned for a 2-gig special event just for Teignmouth they aptly named ‘A Seaside Rendezvous’ before they head out on their 3 month Resistance tour, tying in with the release of their 5th album ‘The Resistance’.
Beneath a full moon the multi-award winners proved to more than 10,000 people there was no place like home, also inviting along Cosmo Jarvo and local heroes’ The Quails.
Rumours had spread so rapidly of famous faces being seen around the town it seemed soon even Jimmy Hoffa and Elvis may make an appearance.
Accompanied by an awesome light show Muse, opening with their new single ‘Uprising’ (released on Monday), gripped the crowd and didn't let go till until they ended the night with ‘Knights of Cydonia’.
With the anxiety over the numbers descending on our town now proved wrong, S.J.M Concerts and everyone else involved ran the evening flawlessly and Teignmouth obviously seemed to be able to cope with it all.
Exciting times for our town have now just been paved!

"What a great gig, we where there on Friday.
I think Muse have now many more fans than they did a few days ago. A lot of the crowd were not Muse fans. A lot of local people and also from the surrounding areas. When Matt got the local’s to cheer and then the outsiders it sounded half & half to me. Of course some or many locals’ will also be fans. It can be great to go to a Muse gig where everyone is a fan but it was also great to see in non-fans faces the look of joy and surprise. During the show a local guy said to my wife – “but you have never seen them this good”. That sum’s up what a Muse gig is like – someone seeing them for the 1st time thinking “they are absolutely brilliant”. I think many people from Teignmouth now realize just how big, great, amazing & spectacular Muse are.
Many thanks to everyone from Teignmouth for making us feel welcome. You are great people who know how to enjoy yourselves. I would like to return for a Holiday sometime – maybe when there’s a bit more availability in the B&B’s".

"I just have to say a big THANK YOU to the residents and traders in Teignmouth. You should really be proud of yourselves. I have never been to a concert in a more friendly place than this, you gave the whole Muse community the warmest of welcomes. I travelled down from Surrey with my my missus on Saturday. On arrival we parked up then had a wander around the town. We enjoyed the cheapest (and biggest!) slap up fish and chip meal ever for under a fiver. I have been ripped off for food and drink so many times it was an absolute joy to go to a place where everything was a lot cheaper than I'm used to!!!
What a party atmosphere there was outside of the Den. Going in to the Den it just got better. Even the food traders inside the perimeter were keeping prices to a minimum, I mean where else can you get a huge cheese roll for a quid??
We went back Sunday morning to look at the deconstruction of the stage. Had a chat with some of the 'older' residents. They had nothing but praise for both the fans and the whole event. I kinda thought they were proud to have opened up their community to people who might not have otherwise gone there.
Anyway this was my third Muse gig and even though the stage show wasn't as spectacular and the band didn't play as long as the previous gigs I can genuinely say this has been the BEST so far."

Yesterday we made the four hour journey from Oxford to Teignmouth, Devon to see the mighty MUSE play their home town. Teignmouth is such a sweet seaside town, we will certainly be going back to see what it is like without 10,000 MUSE fans!"

17th August 2009 - Muse concert given go ahead !
Teignbridge councillors today (mon) gave the thumbs up for the concerts on the Den on Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5, much to the delight of over 100 fans who packed the public gallery at Forde House. Also there to support the application for a licence was Muse bass player Chris Wolstenholme, who said after: ‘I am really chuffed. This is something we wanted to do for our local fans, and we can’t wait for the gigs.’ The licensing committee granted the application, with the proviso that the sound levels at the closest homes to the Den, does not exceed 84.1 decibels. There were no objections from the public, or the statutory authorities. Chris added: ‘The sound level is quite low for our concerts, but we believe we can still put on a good performance.’
Tickets will be available from the Carlton Theatre box office in Teignmouth from 9.00am this Friday (21st), It will be selling around 4000 tickets for the Fri and Sat dates, tickets will be £37.50 each and limited to 4 per person. Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster and Seetickets from the same day. Muse website members will be able to book their tickets earlier though, from Wed (19th). 2nd July 2009 - Carnival Programme Out This Week!
Our 2009 programme is released at the end of this week!
On Saturday 4th July, from early morning, at the Lower Brook Street Co-op store, committee members will be handing out the first copies of the programme along with fliers, collecting donations and selling tickets for the carnival raffle with a first prize of £500 cash !!
Programmes for 2009 will still be free but a suggested donation of a pound would be greatly appreciated
27th June 2009 - Teignmouth Carnival Royalty Float Theme Unveiled.
After a mad final rush, some even working through the night, Teignmouth carnivals's brand new royalty float was unveiled on a beautifully sun drenched Saturday!
It was well known that Teignmouth was to receive a royalty float for 2009 but the theme was shrouded in secrecy for many months but, today, in the Triangle it was finally revealed...
'The Cottingley Fairies'
This magical Edwardian story goes...
In 1916 two young girls went down to the bottom of their garden and took photographs using their father’s quarter plate camera. When the plates were developed in their father’s dark room there were fairies on the prints. This story is known as the Cottingley Fairies.
The 2009 Teignmouth Carnival Royalty float is our recreation of that story.

22nd June 2009 - Teignmouth To Receive New Royalty Float.
Teignmouth has a brand spanking fabulous new carnival royalty float!!!!!
With many long pain staking hours, dedication and commitment Teignmouth is incredibly fortunate to be able to receive a newly built carnival royalty float, something we have missed in our carnival procession for the last few years. Our dream has become a reality thanks to the hard work of Dave Matthews and his team who have taken on the challenge of building the float from scratch, and a big thanks to Shane Maryon, Julie Hurley and crew for dressing it.
The float will be handed over by Dave to the Carnival Committee on SATURDAY 27th JUNE 2009 at TEIGNMOUTH TRIANGLE at 2pm, make sure you are there for a sneak preview!
The Royalty Crew will then go on to attend their first Carnival at South Brent on Saturday evening.
Don't forget, this Saturday, triangle 2pm DON'T miss it!!!!!

23rd May 2009 - Attendant Turns 6.
Incredibly, in such a short space of time the royalty sees a third birthday!
First Julie, then Elle, now Thursday 28th sees Mollie, one of our 2 attendants and Elle's sister, turn 6 years old.
We're going to need a bigger page at this rate!

13th May 2009 - Princess Turns 9.
Following the royalty coordinators birthday we now have another to celebrate!
Elle Parsons, our newly crowned Princess, turned 9 years old today! She will now be looking forward to her big party with all her family and friends on Saturday.

4th May 2009 - Royalty Crowned.
Teignmouth's 2009 royalty was crowned by Mayor Fred Tooley in the triangle today, luckily the rain held off. The girls were treated to a fabulous tea party at The Pickwick with the mayor before being taken up on stage to be introduced to the crowd and given their sashes and flowers.
